Magnesite
Meaning & Jewellery.
Learn what Magnesite is, how its colour and pattern form, what to check when buying it, how to care for it and how it is used in jewellery.

This guide separates established mineral names from jewellery trade names. Material, treatment and source can vary between suppliers, so the exact beads in a finished piece should always take priority.
What is Magnesite?
Magnesite is magnesium carbonate, commonly white, cream or grey with a chalky to vitreous appearance. It is frequently dyed to imitate turquoise.
Colour, pattern and what to look for
Natural material often shows grey or brown veining and a softly porous texture. Strong blue colour should be described as dyed unless independently confirmed.
Traditional meanings of Magnesite
In crystal traditions, Magnesite is associated with healing. Meanings vary between traditions and can be a personal way of choosing a gift or marking an intention.
These associations describe beliefs and symbolism, rather than established medical effects. Jewellery does not treat health conditions.

Care and buying notes for Magnesite
Magnesite is about Mohs 3.5–4.5 and porous. Keep it away from acids, water, perfume and harder gems; clean gently with a dry cloth.
For treatment questions, read the guide to natural, dyed and imitation gemstones and ask Shirley about the materials in a particular design. If you want a different combination or size, use the custom crystal bracelet builder.
