Lepidolite
Meaning & Jewellery.
Learn what Lepidolite is, how its colour and pattern form, what to check when buying it, how to care for it and how it is used in jewellery.

This guide separates established mineral names from jewellery trade names. Material, treatment and source can vary between suppliers, so the exact beads in a finished piece should always take priority.
What is Lepidolite?
Lepidolite is a lithium-rich mica, usually pink, lilac or grey-purple. Its platy structure and pearly lustre distinguish it from harder quartz gemstones.
Colour, pattern and what to look for
Fine mica flakes can catch the light across a bead, while darker inclusions and layered texture are normal. It is valued for colour and softness rather than high durability.
Traditional meanings of Lepidolite
In crystal traditions, Lepidolite is associated with healing. Meanings vary between traditions and can be a personal way of choosing a gift or marking an intention.
These associations describe beliefs and symbolism, rather than established medical effects. Jewellery does not treat health conditions.

Care and buying notes for Lepidolite
Lepidolite is soft, commonly Mohs 2.5–3, with easy cleavage. Avoid water, impact and abrasion; wipe with a soft dry cloth and store separately.
For treatment questions, read the guide to natural, dyed and imitation gemstones and ask Shirley about the materials in a particular design. If you want a different combination or size, use the custom crystal bracelet builder.
