Larvikite
Meaning & Jewellery.
Learn what Larvikite is, how its colour and pattern form, what to check when buying it, how to care for it and how it is used in jewellery.

This guide separates established mineral names from jewellery trade names. Material, treatment and source can vary between suppliers, so the exact beads in a finished piece should always take priority.
What is Larvikite?
Larvikite is a Norwegian igneous rock, a variety of monzonite, recognised for its blue-grey feldspar crystals and silvery or blue flash.
Colour, pattern and what to look for
Polished surfaces show interlocking feldspar crystals rather than the banding of agate. The flash changes as the bead moves and may be subtle in small cuts.
Traditional meanings of Larvikite
In crystal traditions, Larvikite is associated with grounding, protection. Meanings vary between traditions and can be a personal way of choosing a gift or marking an intention.
These associations describe beliefs and symbolism, rather than established medical effects. Jewellery does not treat health conditions.

Care and buying notes for Larvikite
Because it is feldspar-rich, avoid strong impacts and abrasive storage. Warm water and a soft cloth are safer than harsh chemicals or ultrasonic cleaning.
For treatment questions, read the guide to natural, dyed and imitation gemstones and ask Shirley about the materials in a particular design. If you want a different combination or size, use the custom crystal bracelet builder.
