Labradorite bead example

This guide separates established mineral names from jewellery trade names. Material, treatment and source can vary between suppliers, so the exact beads in a finished piece should always take priority.

What is Labradorite?

Labradorite is a feldspar known for labradorescence, the blue, green, gold or multicoloured flash produced by light interference within layered feldspar.

Colour, pattern and what to look for

The flash appears only from certain angles, so a grey bead can suddenly show electric blue or green. Natural fractures, clouds and changing flash direction are common.

Traditional meanings of Labradorite

In crystal traditions, Labradorite is associated with grounding, protection. Meanings vary between traditions and can be a personal way of choosing a gift or marking an intention.

These associations describe beliefs and symbolism, rather than established medical effects. Jewellery does not treat health conditions.

Care and buying notes for Labradorite

Labradorite is around Mohs 6–6.5 and has cleavage. Protect it from sharp impacts and harder stones, and clean gently with warm soapy water.

For treatment questions, read the guide to natural, dyed and imitation gemstones and ask Shirley about the materials in a particular design. If you want a different combination or size, use the custom crystal bracelet builder.
