Dendritic Agate bead example

This guide separates established mineral names from jewellery trade names. Material, treatment and source can vary between suppliers, so the exact beads in a finished piece should always take priority.

What is Dendritic Agate?

Dendritic agate is chalcedony containing branching inclusions, often manganese or iron oxides, that resemble leaves, moss or miniature landscapes. The inclusions are not plant fossils.

Colour, pattern and what to look for

The most interesting beads show dark branching patterns suspended in a pale or translucent body. The pattern can sit on one face and disappear on the next because it is three-dimensional.

Traditional meanings of Dendritic Agate

In crystal traditions, Dendritic Agate is associated with grounding, protection. Meanings vary between traditions and can be a personal way of choosing a gift or marking an intention.

These associations describe beliefs and symbolism, rather than established medical effects. Jewellery does not treat health conditions.
