Aventurine
Meaning & Jewellery.
Learn what Aventurine is, how its colour and pattern form, what to check when buying it, how to care for it and how it is used in jewellery.

This guide separates established mineral names from jewellery trade names. Material, treatment and source can vary between suppliers, so the exact beads in a finished piece should always take priority.
What is Aventurine?
Aventurine is quartz containing reflective mineral inclusions that create aventurescence, a soft glitter visible as the stone moves in the light. Green aventurine commonly contains fuchsite mica.
Colour, pattern and what to look for
The shimmer should look scattered rather than like a mirror surface. Green, blue, orange and other colours are sold under the aventurine name, so the inclusion mineral affects the final appearance.
Traditional meanings of Aventurine
In crystal traditions, Aventurine is associated with healing. Meanings vary between traditions and can be a personal way of choosing a gift or marking an intention.
These associations describe beliefs and symbolism, rather than established medical effects. Jewellery does not treat health conditions.

Care and buying notes for Aventurine
Quartz-rich aventurine is generally around Mohs 6.5–7. Store it separately to prevent scratches and use warm soapy water; avoid harsh solvents and severe impacts.
For treatment questions, read the guide to natural, dyed and imitation gemstones and ask Shirley about the materials in a particular design. If you want a different combination or size, use the custom crystal bracelet builder.
